It’s been a while since my last skincare routine share, and after doing a bit of decluttering and research recently I thought it was high time I collated together my favourite products from my current routine, as we all love a nose and update on what’s latest out there on the market!
As you probably know, I’ve been switching to more cruelty-free and vegan friendly products for the last few months and it’s honestly done some amazing magic to my skin, so aside from the usual loves (Oskia cleanser, ma fave), here’s a few new notable mentions…
Bit TMI, but I always get the oiliest on my nose area, and after this conflicting weather of slapping on suncream one minute and putting the heating on the next, the oil has been in overdrive. Thankfully the Voya Balancing Serum* has been keeping that at bay, designed for combination skin to combat excess sebum whilst keeping the skin moisturised all over. It has a really lovely orange scent which signals it’s slight astringent edge along with the willowherb, but overall it’s really gentle and has kept my complexion clear, a little less congested, and a lot happier. The brand is made and based in Ireland using organic seaweed as a base in all the products, and seaweed has an awesome natural healing property so you can guarantee it’ll work every time, no matter if it’s dry skin or oily!
Another serum I’ve been loving for a long time is Caudalie Vine[Activ]* which works deep down in the epidermis to prevent cell death and keep surface turnover regular. This keeps your skin softer, smoother, and healthier for much longer, and my skin hasn’t been as soft since adding this in to my routine. The combination of grape seed and spruce really refreshes the skin and smells it too, so every morning I feel ready to start the day, and in combination with Voya my skin is super soft and I’ve said soft a lot but yeah, it’s that soft.
I was having trouble finding a night moisturiser to repair my skin but also add, well, moisture, but since getting my mitts on the Nyassa Midnight feast Night Balm* it’s been the perfect combo; it has anti-inflammatory properties, plus MSM which is a pure form of sulpher to combat spots and breakouts, so if you want skin to have a break and repair overnight, this in combo with retinols does WONDERS, MIRACLES. It’s the perfect consitency, not overly rich and thick but enough to feel like you’ve put something good on your skin as a nightly treat, and you only need a small amount so the price goes a long way…
Also from Nyassa, another serum! You’ve heard me mention their Luminosity Super Serum* a few times now so I’ll keep it brief – it’s a mild exfoliating formula, with AHA and MSM again to minimise spots and blemishes, keeping that skin fresh; it’s not too gloopy so spreads easy with 1-2 drops, and again lasts a long long time (and I use this nightly!) I have to attribute both Nyassa products a lot to my improved skin, as the combo keeps it refreshed, renewed, and in tip top condition with the best vegan friendly formula I’ve found. Luxury, but worth every penny.
Finally for those needed spot emergency scenarios, I rediscovered Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion again and it’s been amazing at getting those pesky yellow heads or near-yellow bumps to form a head and disappear a heck of a lot quicker. With a mix of zinc and sulpher, you leave the pink formula on overnight and it dries out and minimises redness/spot size dramatically, leaving you with something less to worry about in the morning! Praise god.
As I said, these notables are all cruelty free, with Nyassa and Voya being vegan friendly options too, so if you’re looking for a new serum to sneak in or a spot treatment to do the job good first time, then you cannot go wrong with these, and I for one will be repurchasing once they finish up *weeps at the thought*
