And you know what? I’m pretty impressed.
Last month, I was lucky enough to attend the BAFTAS with House of Fraser and with Lancôme as the main sponsors, it was no surprise we got to try a few treats from the brand. Amazingly and very kindly, the team went through my blog and picked out products and colours they believed I’d love and wear, and my god did they get it right – so so right!
Firstly, they met both my main base needs – a high coverage semi-matte but natural looking foundation in the form of Tient Miracle in 10 for those days I need extra oomph and ‘please hide all my sins’ and then my love of Korean based beauty and dewy glow for lighter days with their Miracle Cushion Fluid Foundation. I seriously love cushion compacts, after researching the Korean beauty market a lot last year cushions stood out as the main love and highly in demand product for women for on-the-go touch ups, light yet medium to high coverage formula and also very very cute (or kawaii even). Tient Miracle is more of a ‘non-tan’ shade on me right now, so I’m leaning towards the cushion more often than not but it’s safe to say both hit the nail on the head for formula needs.
I haven’t gone ‘oooh, aaHH’ over lipsticks in ages and when I saw both these colours and formulas twist up I was sold; a matte orange-red with a magnetic lid (yes!!) that also protects against ageing, and the ‘creamier but blots down into a perfectly comfortable nude’ Shine Lover which has been my everyday staple since I got it (see in action here). I don’t usually like creamy formulas but the shade of this and how it works makes it an exception – it’s lighter than my lips and actually shows it despite being creamy, and even when it’s blotted down to a comfort-matte finish it holds its pigmentation and really makes my lips look more soft brown-nude than before. It’s love and it’s easy and I just love it more again.
Again, sometimes I’m lazy with makeup (except lips, base and brows ofc) and eyes are always a place I’ll skip if I have to – eyeliner is still a task – so the Ombre Hypnôse Stylo in 02 Sable Enchanté is the easiest glide on colour ever to brighten your lids and add summin’summin. I particularly like the pointed tip, making it easy to use as either liner or a quick wash over the lid, but this is fab for days I want a nude shadow that has a little sparkle to make me feel special.
The last product I have to say is one I’m not so much hesitant about trying, but more ‘will it meet my standards’. Mascara is a funny one for me, even though my lashes are long and quite curled I like a product that will keep the curl in pace, lengthen and volumise more and not too wet or too dry. Is it really that hard to please a gal? As of yet I’ve not tried it because I have a few mascaras open already, but I’m going to keep it in sight in my ‘to try drawer’ to give myself a little push into the mascara unknowns.
I have to thank Lancôme so much for sending over a personalised selection of products, it’s such a treat to get things that you actually and will wear on your face, and also to House of Fraser for inviting me to the BAFTAS. If you missed it, I’ll link my post and vlog here so you can see what happened, and if you’ve tried Lancôme let me know what I should put on my to-try list next!
Products c/o of Lancome and House of Fraser, but excitement over makeup is 100% my own!
Lots of Love,
