It always seems to be that when you clear out your makeup and skincare, more comes in – it’s the Circle of Life, and I’m more than happy to oblige and indulge when it comes to beauty. I’ve been trying everything from haircare to hand-cream recently, and you know what? It’s all awesome…
Let’s work from hair down to hands – now Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo might not seem the most glam of products, but after reading Adrienne’s review of how it meant her hair didn’t need washing as often and had grown noticeably, I was sold and snapped up two to add to my current ‘operation hair growth’ routine. So far, my scalp feels cleaner and is currently in the phase of ‘you’re scalp is so clean let’s produce a bit more oil’ so I’m still washing every 2-3 days, but on a good week (aka when I’m not on the tube regularly) I can go a few days longer and combined with the Lee Stafford range, I’m noticing some serious length appearing.
Onto face and my complexion is nearly at the point of clarity which is amazing, but something that’s really helped is Odacité Black Cumin + Cajeput Serum, containing lots of ingredients that prevent pimples from forming and really clarifies the skin. The whole Odacite range is awesome and whilst the price is high for something that can run out quickly depending on use, it really had made a change. Another complexion love is the Inika Liquid Foundation* which is organic and natural, and amazing for a ‘barely there’ finish to the skin. It is quite thick in formula and require some work, but pop a bit of moisturiser or a highlighter with it and it’ll give you a real glow that get’s people talking about how nice your skin looks – result!
Another new love I’ve been trying out recently is Crownbrush and their range of vegan-friendly brushes is so so good; they’re soft, have a great handle and the size of all the ones I’ve tried have been brilliant – I particularly love the SS013 Angle Brush* and SS015 Tapered Powder Brush* which have been great for my new contour/blush rotation, they’re so soft and really apply product beautifully – my contour never looked so defined.
Now moving onto my skin and particularly my elbows, I’ve always had irritated flareups from heat or stress and after an unbearable itch, so it was a miracle when Pure Potions Skin Salvation* came along and the balm is honestly a dream – it melts down into a decent balm texture, so even the smallest of product can spread far and it both soothes and moisturises the applied area. The smell is a plus and the fact it’s all naturally made really makes it kind to skin, and I can say the moisture and calm in my elbows is as good as ever.
Finally hands, and I’ve found some aesthetically pleasing soap and body products from Evolve Beauty; it’s always the simply designed bottles with typography that makes any bathroom shelf look good, but it’s what is on the inside of the product (and your purse) that matters; firstly, this range is so affordable, I’m amazed at how much quality you get for the price (so much so my mum has insisted we try more) and everything smells divine – I have the Blood Orange* soap which smells as good as Jaffa Cakes, and their Face Oil is a nourishing dream too. Another cute fact, only three people work behind the scenes on products and packaging, and each bottle tells you which team member made it!
Of course, you can’t wash your hands without nourishing them and I’ve finally got my hands on Antipodes Joyful* which I sampled at a health show last year. The smell is fresh whilst thick in consistency (not as thick as The Body Shop Hemp) but it’s a great ‘during the day, keep it by your computer at all times’ kind of formula. A must for Summer scent lovers.
More goodies for you to get trying yourself, but I’d love to hear what you’ve been testing recently? Have you tried any of these brands? Do you have any staples that aren’t totally glam like my shampoo?
Lots of Love,
