Before we start, I have to point out my new makeup storage – a small six slotted Lazy Susan-esque rotary system which I thought would be hilarious for blogging as I could do a literal ‘in rotation’ beauty post; I mean, come on, it’s pretty good right? The fun I’ve had using this.
Anyway, it’s time for another Beauty Brief and it’s a little bit festive but still quite a bit muted – the red lip isn’t being cracked out every day, but when it is, MAC Russian Red is the one otherwise I’ve finally got my paws on Charlotte Tilbury’s Birkin Brown which I tried a year ago and have lusted after ever since. I adore brown/nude shades on the lip and this is a little bit spicy without feeling too much, plus that glam 90’s nod works with so many eye and blush looks you’ll be happy you invested!
To start I’ve been obsessed with mixing Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Primer on my T-zone to stop shine with Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur for a totally smooth and blurred to perfection base, it’s seriously dreamy and lasts all day long. As you’ve probably guessed from my haul and posts, the Holika Holika Aqua Petite Jelly BB Cream is my go-to base thanks to the winter/actual colour of my skin shade, and the coverage is honestly to die for – light yet full, matte but not too dry, just that perfect balance you want from foundation but in a BB formula that does more to protect the skin. Concealer wise, I’m currently on the hunt for something new, possibly the Urban Decay NAKED concealer but let me know your recommendations!
Contour is the same, my old favourite from Sleek Face Form Palette in Light* which I’ve been so impressed with this year, potentially a 2015 favourite along with Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown which always makes my brows look as full and big as they were always mean to be before I attacked them with tweezers aged 18. Regret.
The first hints of Christmas are coming through on the eyes however, and I’ve been mixing up Laura Mercier Moonlight and Copper Caviar Sticks for a lovely subtle shimmer, adding depth to the lash line with Oriflame The ONE Liner Stylo* and adding the most gorgeous hold, length and natural depth to my lashes with Fairydrops Scandal Queen Marcara – yep it really is as good as everyone says, I wish I’d picked up 50. Honestly, I know I love my Maybelline but the lack of smudging and natural, clump-free finish to this is beyond incredible (thank you Anna and the internet)
Now I turn to you, what’s in your current makeup rotation? Are you feeling festive with red and gold? Do you like the sound of any of these products? Have you caught up with my recent beauty hauls?
Lots of Love,
