Recently I gave myself the challenge of simplifying my makeup down to about 10 products I would use for all makeup occasions; one reason being to see how many products I actually use, the second because I needed to save some space and keep the essentials to hand, but nonetheless it’s been interesting – as much of a minimal makeup girl I am, sometimes I can go a bit OTT on the eyeshadows, highlighting and even lipsticks and liners, so how have I been getting on? (And more importantly, what made the cut?!)

Base is pretty important for me seeing as I have to deal with blemishes, marks, spots and general evening out of my skin tone, so I’ve kept as much as I can in. To prime, it’s the usual Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer* which has been going strong for months now – impressive, and works, what more do you need?To give my complexion life and even tone, I’ve kept the Green People Age Defy+ DD Tinted Moisturiser* (well that’s a mouthful) at hand to give me colour and coverage that helps my foundation do its job properly without layering on too much – speaking of foundation, it’s good ol’NARS Sheer Glow in Deauville that’s been the pick of the pack, offering up medium/high coverage with that semi-matte/dewy glow that works really well for a natural look when you want to cover up any blemishes. Extra concealing is provided by NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (but you probably guessed that) which I feel is on it’s last legs so I’m very tempted to pick up the NAKED concealer next – although recommendations are welcome…

Now to add definition and my trusty contour time and time again is the Sleek Face Form Palette in Light*, the contour shade being the perfect workable brown shade that makes cheekbones appear as if you always had them. Magic.

For eyes, I can’t scrimp on the brows so Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown* is staying pride of place in my bag, but for quick ease of colour I’ve been popping the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Copper on my lids when I feel I need some shimmer, and then to finish the eye-popping look I’ve just got my hands on a new mascara – familiar around this parts but back once again, the
Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara*
(more on that in the next few weeks, but it seriously werks)

Lips have had some leeway, because I’ve kept back a nude and red/berry combo just depending on how I’m feeling, but you always need options with lips! For a quick slick nude, it’s my favourite Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle which can be applied every few hours without a mirror thanks to it’s natural shade; for my colour and autumnal berry pop, it’s my go-to combo of Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm in Sultry and Lipstick Queen Sigh – it can do no wrong, so easy to slick on and looks as equally slick.

10 items, 4 possible looks depending on occasion, day or night, or time available to spend doing your brows and lips. I’m enjoying the slick quickness of 10 items plus the ease of pulling everything out and actually using it. Maybe this can be a seasonal switch up, just don’t ask me to do the same with my skincare, I definitely need 10 masks in my routine alone… #skincarejunkie

What are your 10 go-to beauty products? Are you more of a base, eyes or lips girl? Have you tried any of these products for quick makeup?

Lots of Love,

Lauren x
