There are so many milk alternatives out there for vegans or those who prefer dairy free drinks that it can be overwhelming – almond, soya, hazelnut, coconut amongst others, so much choice, so much variety. For years I’ve been a huge fan of unsweetened almond milk in my porridge, it tastes yummy and it’s neutral enough that you can pop it in tea, hot chocolate and cake without anyone knowing the difference, but as you may know I’ve been having a few skin and health issues that mean I need to get nutrients and vitamins from as many places I can, and simply switching up my milk has made a huge difference.
I’d heard of hemp before but didn’t realise you could get it in milk form so when I spotted it in my local supermarket (plus the added benefits which I’d been looking for, stars align, angels sing) I yoinked myself a couple of cartons to try. Trying anything new in your breakfast is scary enough, however I need not of worried as hemp milk tastes beyond amazing – if you’ve ever had bubblegum ice-cream abroad, then you’ll be most pleased as this tastes exactly the same, is creamy, sweet and jam packed with the good stuff…
1. It’s FULL of nutritional benefits
By necking 8oz of hemp milk, you’ll digest 900mg of Omega-3 fatty acids, 2800mg of Omega-6 fatty acids, all 10 essential amino acids, 4g of digestible protein, 46% of your Calcium RDA, Potassium, Phosphorous, Vitamins A, E, B12, D, Iron and even some Magnesium – phew!
2. It can help improve your skin, nails and hair
Thanks to the added folic acids, iron and zinc, you’ll soon see your nails become stronger and I for one can vouch for that as mine are so prone to splitting and I’ve barely had a bad nail since adding hemp milk to my diet!
