For once this monthly favourites, I’ve actually had to cut down on the products included. A lot of things did come into play in the last week or so so I thought it only fair to do a separate post on them in the next week or so, but for now I’ve crammed in the really tip-top of my month into one collective post for you to have a nosey at.
April has actually been pretty amazing; I’ve attended some great events, finally met my internet friends IRL, got my YouTube channel up and running (I’ve posted three videos already, you don’t want to miss the baking one!) and discovered I have an addiction to snack bars – so good though.
I don’t usually do a lot with my hair as I’m trying to grow out all my years of bleaching, so when it comes to shampoo and conditioner I like to try and clarify and repair the locks so they grow healthier and faster. Thinking that I had no spare shampoo and conditioner left in the bathroom – it was a lie, I actually have a whole box full, oops – I spotted a deal for Herbal Essences at online and promptly added the Herbal Essences Naked 0% Shine Shampoo and Volumising Conditioner to my basket. The range is designed with 0% parabens, residues or dyes, with the Shine Shampoo containing White Tea and Mint which is so fresh and clarifying, whilst the Volumising Conditioner has a fab blend of Grapefruit and Mint – you know I love me some mint.
After regular use, these have become my new favourites and my hair feels lighter and clean whilst having more volume and softness. I do like to leave the conditioner in so my dry ends can soak up the hydration, but all in all a fab bargain from the high street!
From glowing hair to glowing skin, MyChelle has seriously overhauled my skin this month and it’s all thanks to two little gems. I’m combination skin with some slight texture issues (if you read my NOPE 15 post, you’ll have seen that from my skin analysis) so I’ve been using more AHA and refining based products to bring the smoothness back. The Fruit Enzyme Cleanser is an absolute miracle, and within one use of this I saw a huge difference in my skin. As it boosts cell-renewle, my blemish fade quicker, excess oil and blackheads have cleared, and even my textured and dry areas have cleared up which has made me so happy. Combined with the Apple Brightening Serum, my redness has also faded and even my friends have said my skin is glowing which is fantastic – I’ve even been able to wear less makeup! I have since picked up some other MyChelle goodies which you’ll see soon, but so far I am more than impressed with how the range has benefited my skin.
To also go along with my skincare, this is a very last-minute addition as although I’ve only used it for a week, the Konjac Sponge for All Skin Types has blown me away. I met the band last week at NOPE 15 and they promised me clearer pores, refined skin, and a much more gentle cleansing experience which is exactly what I’ve had. Even without the before photo to compare, I can see that my blackheads have reduced massively, my skin is softer and it feels clean but nourished. The great thing with the sponge too is that you use less product which is great to keep hold of your favourites for longer (and your pennies). I really want to try the Bamboo Charcoal sponge as I’ve heard loads about the benefits, but for now, this is my cleansing hero.
Now for less beauty things, and although ear plugs may seem mundane they are an absolute life saver. I mentioned the Bio Ears Soft Silicone Ear Plugs in my 10 Ways to Switch Off post, and they’ve definitely helped me sleep deeper and through the night, but are also a great way to block out all the noise and distractions before bed – no more late night music for me, or YouTube videos…
Speaking of YouTube, I mentioned that I finally started my channel up again this month and thank you so much to everyone who’s subbed and watched my videos so far – go check them out here – but I’m actually going to spend this time going over my new growing obsession that is Dan and Phil. Firstly, it’s not the best screen grab, but I was mid re-watching a video so let’s kill two birds with one stone. I have watched Dan and Phil for a while, but this month alone I think I’ve watched 70-80% of all their videos and all the extras from Radio 1 and other vlog – this is what happens to me when I have a new love in my life. I love the philisnotonfire series, Dil videos, and this one is my current favourite for a good laugh – it reminds me of when I first started watching and doing YouTube in 2009, and I feel the awkward internet geek inside me surfacing each time (thanks Phan). My new life goal now is to meet Dan and Phil, I’ll let you know how that goes…
Let’s wrap this all up with a Lauren staple – a candle purchase. With a HomeSense voucher for my birthday to spend, I went all out and bought the nicest candles ever which are designed to help calm & reflect your mood. I bought the Parks Belief (pictured) and Calm candles which smell like fresh man with dipped in a blanket of clean sheets and grounding Cedarwood and Patchoulli. It’s just heaven, and it really makes me feel relaxed in the evenings – perfect candle investment if I do say so myself.
April, you did me good. The sun finally came out and I was able to work outside in the sun (and get sunburnt, indoor girl problems), and I also hit 800 followers on Bloglovin as well as getting featured on the explore page four times, so thank you to all the new readers this month who loved my posts enough to follow me. May has a lot to live up to, but if I can meet even more people, attend more events and experience new things, then we’re all in for another exciting month – stay tuned….
What have you been loving this month? Have you got a favourite YouTube you are obsessed with? Have you found any new life-changing products this month?
Lots of Love,
