The final round up of monthly favourites is here, and what a month and year it’s been! I hope you’ve all had a lovely Christmas stuffed with presents, food and good TV, but for now lets snuggle down in our new Christmas pjs and catch up on all things December.
Unpopular opinion: I’m not really bothered about chocolate anymore. I’m sorry. That can cause a bit of trouble around Christmas with advent calendars, however I found this bargain Ciate Mini Mansion Advent Calendar in TK Maxx which solved all my problems (apart from my nail polish addiction which has been severely reignited). £20 for 24 polishes, some very festive favourites and much more satisfactory to wake up to than chocolate. Get it while you can here.
As if I haven’t raved about my trip to Covent Garden enough this month, it’s popping up again in my monthly favourites. This time it’s lipstick and photobooths, two of my favourite things in life and combined are a dream. Firstly, the long-lasting lipstick you need for every festive party, or every day of your life – Chanel Double Intensity Ultra Wear Lipstick* which is the perfect Christmas red and after much trialing over hot chocolate and eating and life, it really does last all day and night. Luxury price, yes, but worthy of each penny. No girls day out or any occasion really is complete without a photos, and a photobooth is a particular highlight at some of the events I’ve attended. I loved hanging out with Katie, Josie, Angelica and Eleanor in the Urban Decay and Beauty Live photobooths, and the memories are firmly in place on my wall forever now.
December has been a month of trialing and establishing firm skincare favourites. To soothe my hands and really get them back to normal, I’ve been loving the Avène XeraCalm Balm which I’ve used for a few months but during a two week challenge with them I’ve seen a massive change in surface of my skin. Great for those with eczema or itchy patches. Next is the quick fix every girl needs from REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial*; a product that reminds you of toothpaste a bit but once you work it in and activate the Vitamin C, you’re left with an insanely bright complexion that looks fresh and clear –marvellous.
Oils have been a great way to inject nourishment and extra goodness for me this year, and I’ve recently been giving the MyChelle Advanced Argan Oil* a whirl to see how it works with my skin type. There’s a full review coming in the new year, but I can tell you the lightweight formula is a real winner so far. Another winner that’s come back again for monthly favourites is Rodial Glam Balm LIP* which really nourishes, plumps and soothes my lips each morning and night. I’ve found that applying the balm morning, mid-day, and evening has kept my lips protected and nourished all day long through the winter, and helps my lipstick last longer too which is a bonus!
More holy grails now, and I have become obsessed very quickly with NARS. I finally picked up NARS Sheer Glow in Deauville and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Vanilla and am now hooked; Sheer Glow gives the perfect amount of coverage with half the amount of product I usually use with MAC and Deauville melts right into my skin tone for an on-point match. Easy to apply make-up comes with cared for skin and the La Roche Posay Effaclar range has really turned my complexion around, clearing up my blemishes and blackheads and giving me lovely even skin – thank you La Roche Posay!
Finally, my go-to winter scent until I get my paws on Tom Ford is the classic YSL Elle Eau de Parfum; Musk, Cedar, Ginger and Mandarin all blend together to create a deep, spicy scent perfect for all your parties whilst staying feminine and sweet. I’ve a lot of love for this fragrance, and it never fails to make me ready for the winter.
Possibly my biggest monthly favourites post, but December is too exciting to not want to include everything. Now we’re really into the last few days of 2014, I’m excited to reflect on the past and look forward to the future – all whilst wearing my fave lipstick and a quick spritz of YSL.
Have you had any new favourites this month? What is your winter scent? Can you recommend any reoccurring favourite products you’ve had this year?
Lots of Love,
