With Christmas comes all the yummy food, perfect party pieces, and the beauty to make you glow even more than usual at the office and family parties. It would be perfect timing then to hit up the Marks and Spencer Christmas Blogger Event at The Mall Cribbs Causeway to check out what’s on offer this season to impress and digest – the only time digest will sound appealing!
The Mall was fully decked out in Christmas Wonderland fashion; ice-skating, food stalls and an insanely huge castle fit for any princess – it also matched my Blue Vanilla coat perfectly (in action here). Scouting out The Mall and M&S decorations before the event, I was so impressed with the variety of gifts on offer this year, and all the cute pieces I wanted to buy there and then to make my house even more festive than it already is.
Upon arrival, there were yummy Spiced Apple drinks galore (so happy) and the best of M&S Christmas was on display. From fashion and beauty to all the food you’d need at the dinner table, we got to sample it all and I also got to hear about the upcoming expansion of the brands within M&S during the New Year which is very exciting.
Firstly, fashion. M&S have curated three main style edits this year, including a Winter Wonderland theme of pastel and icy blues, whites and silvers in cashmere and soft materials; the long blue coat with a woolen touch was a lovely simple statement to wear day or night, and would look as glamorous as your party dress wherever you wear it. As a blue lover, I couldn’t help but also fall for the Leather Grab Tote Bag which is the perfect size to carry your essentials, and comes with a long handle to switch between oversized clutch and shoulder bag – amazing!
The Christmas Day edit was packed full of stylish and wearable novelty jumpers, the ‘Merry‘ jumper being a particular fave as it’s so soft and would be an awesome piece for even those fearful of the Christmas season – scrooges! The snuggly accessories cannot go amiss either, with this gorgeous ‘Santa Baby’ hat being next on my wishlist for cool prints, and if you’re into your matchy matchy it goes perfectly with the Merry jumper! Also, how cute is that Pudding hat?!
Shimmering on over to the Party Edit (pun intended), the rich gold and sequin tones were perfectly on trend for the party season. What I love most about all the pieces is how easy they can be dressed up or down; the mannequins displaying sparkly dresses with chunky boots that wouldn’t go amiss in the workplace – if you’re brave – or a bold, statement embellished jacket to toughen up and add jazz to your black skinny jeans and simple tee – there’s a piece of every occasion and style this season.
Whether you want a beauty starter pack for your niece or sister, or a set of bathtime indulgences, M&S have so much on offer this Christmas. The most exciting thing I saw however was the new releases from BritishBeautyBlogger, who you may have heard collaborated this A/W with M&S for her first line of products – totally amazing and another great display of what bloggers can achieve! With a nail bar on hand to give us all manicures, my mum – her first time experiencing a blog event as a plus one – gave her talons a little treat with the Lilac shade from BBB’s range. The shade is the right amount of purple and not too bright and pale in colour so it’s suitable for all seasons and ages. To add a bit of extra sparkle, the Leighton Denny Silver Glitter nail varnish from their Wonderball products for Christmas was the perfect top coat to offset the purples – just enough glitter in each stroke to add a subtle gleam which is what you want – minus the struggle of removing it for about 10 hours.
As well as nails, the M&S make-up girls were on hand to show us the best of some of their exclusive ranges including Stila and Autograph. I was particularly interested in the Ultimate Wear Cream Eyeshadow Sticks as they look so easy to glide on and blend just with your fingertips – great for travelling or on the go! The really interesting news however was that M&S will be incorporating more new brands in 2015, including those available in Space NK – more NARS for me?! It’s fabulous to see M&S emerge from what was once seen as a Mumsy brand to an upcoming, fashion forward department store to really rival others on the high street, and I am all for it.
The main attraction for me? Well, it had to be the spread, and what a spread it was. The ultimate Cranberry and Turkey Pie, Sausage Rolls with Black Pudding – I know I don’t eat meant but the combinations and thought gone into the flavours was amazing – and my fave, the Cheese and Roasted Red Pepper Loaf. Oh, it was heaven, and a time to indulge on my bread weakness with a few slices. Paired with Artichokes and Olives, you have an amazing base for Bruschetta at any dinner party.
I have had a little peek at the Christmas offerings from M&S this year, and you are in for a treat. Chocolate Igloo Cake, Cheese and Cracker Plates, Stem Ginger Curd – if you want something fancy for your Christmas dinner, breakfast, or just because you can, then make sure you head on over to your local M&S Food Hall!
To top the night off and tie in with this years #TwoFairies campaign, one blogger was chosen to pick £50 worth of gifts for a chosen charity that M&S would donate as a surprise, which is so so lovely! The chosen charity was for a local children’s hospital which is the best this time of year, and I think anyone would be happy with a cuddly toy and puzzle this year when staying in hospital at Christmas – especially a One Direction one 😉
The evening was a true success, and the ladies at M&S and Grayling were perfect hosts who really converted me to the Christmas ranges – although the food didn’t take much. I’m really excited to see what M&S comes up with in the New Year, so make sure you keep your peepers peeled, and if you’re still wondering where to go for all your party needs, well…this is not just Christmas, this is M&S Christmas 😉
Do you shop at Marks and Spencer for food or fashion? Are you looking for your perfect party outfit? What food are you excited for?
