A few months ago, my blogging pal Kris from Creepers and Cupcakes messaged me asking if I wanted to meet up in real life at an event in London. If meeting her wasn’t enough, there was going to be cupcakes and lots of cool brands there to see so I immediately penciled her into my Filofax – because I’m a keen bean.
Fast forward to last Saturday and I was on my coach down to London to finally meet my friend and also attend my first official blogging event. Organised by the amazing Scarlett London, we were treated to an amazing view on the 31st floor of the Paramount at Centre Point in London and also some amazing brands. Can you tell it was amazing?
Kris and I wandered around and met up with some other lovely bloggers too, and we chatted to the couple behind Bee Good – a natural Honey beauty brand to seriously rival Burt’s Bees! They’ve just started stocking in Waitrose and have also been backed financially to help create Bee Keeping apprentices for the first time in 700 years – if that’s not progress in business I don’t know what is!
Walking around, we saw stalls from Ecco and Minimum Fashion, Want Her Dress, Very.co.uk, Lee Stafford and Oriflame – so many exciting products and brands to connect with and all kind enough to provide some goodies (all of which will be in another post!)
As we made the rounds, there was plenty of food on offer – from cupcakes to complimentary raspberry Prosecco, to Sweet Pizzas and canapes – and plenty of seating which was perfect when we found our bags getting out of hand and needing to reorganise everything (this happened at least four times!)
Each brand had a Twitter contest, with the chance to win some amazing prizes. There was a Bee Good Cleanser, Murad Face Kit, £200 of Vouchers from Search Laboratory, and a Lee Stafford Hamper amongst others. We all had to be creative in our answers for why we should win the prize, and patiently waited to hear the results later on.
Making our way back around again, we hit up the Urban Outfitters stand where the girls from the company and Search Laboratory were taking Polaroid pictures of everyone, so we immediately jumped on that! It turns out that the best photo would win this awesome Crosley Record Player which looked so cool, and you could also win headphones if your business card was drawn out the hat – luckily I had made some that morning to give out! Me and Kris had two photos to take home with us to document our day and were seriously so so cute.
As some bloggers drifted off, we got the chance to look at the make-up stands more and talk to the people from Oriflame about their new ‘The One’ collection. I have to say the felt-tip eyeliners were my absolute favourite, and of course, the matte long-lasting lipsticks – come to mama! We got a little sample of their new lipstick in one of the goody bags so I’ll be doing a little review of that too soon.
Towards the end of the day, Kris had the chance to get her hair done (which looked bloody gorgeous at that!) and we got to chat to some more brands – I got to speak to the girls from Search Laboratory more who I’ve only spoke to via email in the past so it was lovely to put faces to names.
As we relaxed, I got a cheeky little tweet saying I’d won the Murad kit which was so awesome, and if that wasn’t enough to make my day, I got taken over to the Urban Outfitters stand to find I’d won the Record Player! Absolutely insane. I think I said ‘are you joking?’ about 10 times. Luckily I didn’t have to carry it home on the tube as it was massive but I’m excited for it to arrive and have a little play with the records I received too.
I really had the most fantastic day; everyone was so lovely and kind, and it was great to meet people who had the same ideas in what they wanted to create and share in their own little internet space. After having a really rough time the day before, Bloggers Festival really cheered me up. Kris introduced me to Sarah from DaisyChains and Dreamers and I got to meet very briefly the lovely Lorna from Studs and Dreams on the tube home.
I have to applaude Scarlett for such a wonderful event, I can only imagine how much time it took to organise and from my experience it went phenomenally well. I cannot wait for the next meet-up and hopefully I’ll be seeing Kris again soon as she is such a babe (go follow her hereeeeee).
|Very.co.uk SS 15 Collection inspiration – I give it two thumbs up!|
If you attended Bloggers Festival, I’d love to hear from you and leave your links below – even if we didn’t chat this time, I’d love to get to know some faces before the next meet-up. I’ll also be posting a sneak peek into my goody bags and prizes so stay tuned for the next week!
Have you been to many blog events before? What are your favourite brands?
Lots of Love,
