A lesson I'll never learn is over-making makeup for a holiday - one step into a warm climate and I prefer to swear off any base and fuss, letting that Vitamin D do it's work for me. That being said, on the odd few nights in 30 degree heat recently I decided to put some of my favourite long-wear products to the test to see what is really going to stick come humidity, rain or sunshine.
Mascara is always an easy way to add 'oomph' to a holiday glow and let's just say the warm climate really put my two favourites to the test - Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof has more grab than most in the UK however by the end of dinner on my second night it had transferred under my lower lash line, unlike Fairydrops Scandal Queen which stayed put and fresh all evening; no hint of transfer, smudging or lack of curl or volume. Goes to show that products formulated in humid countries really will stand the test of time. Or heat for that matter.
Speaking of Korean products, the A'Pieu Smudge-proof Shadow Stick* really did as it says on the tin - high pigmented colour to add a golden glow, no smudging or transfer during the night, and only budged with a bit of Clarins Eye Makeup Remover. Subtle summer eyes, sorted!
Personally I prefer a bit of mascara and a bold lip on holiday (why I forget this and keep packing ALL my makeup, I don't know) so wanted to put my only liquid lipstick to the test - the Cailyn Extreme Matte Tint* dries down well on the lips without looking so, but be wary of oily food as you'll get a lovely ring of colour on the outside of the lip - one to top up post-dessert devouring ;)
What are your heat-proof favourites? Have you tried any of these products? Are you off anywhere nice soon?
Lots of Love,
