Fashion has never been my number one priority - most days are spent in loungewear, sorry not sorry - yet over time I've learnt the importance of investing in pieces that have a long-wear life, suit your shape and style, and transition through several years. Typically nowadays I spend more and buy less because then I'm sure I'll get use out of each item, but as important as your basic tee is, the accessories are also what help make your outfit personal to you.
Realistically, my style speaks for itself - plenty of blue, jumpers and a bit of print to add some talking points, yet I love how items such as jewellery, scarves, sunglasses and bags can really compliment your style and even enhance it - and sometimes, you don't even have to break the bank to take your style up 10 points in the stakes!
Bags have always been the silver to my magpie eye, and I've since downgraded my stash to ones I can squeeze only the essentials in - maybe my DSLR at a push, but there are those days I need something bigger and more substantial to lug my laptop and camera round, for packing in extra snacks and being ultimately prepared for anything. Thankfully Accessorize answered my workload woes with their fab new season range of bags, and this Grey Bella Soft Shoulder Bag* has covered all my needs - a detachable shoulder strap for lighter days and exploring cities, non-leather yet a sturdy material so vegan friendly (my last non-leather bag is still going strong, so definitely a fab alternative in terms of material), has enough room for both my laptop and DSLR, and is a lovely grey/taupe shade that turns more of one shade than the other depending what shade of blue/grey I'm wearing - result! Oh, and did I mention it's under £35?
Another silvery glint in my eye is jewellery, and I am 100% a ring person, it's the only jewellery that doesn't annoy me and makes my hands look pretty even when I've forgotten to paint my nails *oops*. After years of cheap high-street jewellery, I've finally found some amazing true sterling-silver brands and for the last month I haven't been able to leave the house without my Gemporia Turquoise Aryonna Ring* - it's a lovely delicate piece that adds colour (blue, perfect for me) and feels high quality, and even if I wear it alone or with my other rings it's a fabulous eye-catcher.
Finally, whenever there's the excuse to wear sunglasses, girl gotta take it! Usually I reserve sunglasses for summer but late-winter/early-spring can be bright and fresh too and it's also a fabulous way to make a statement. I'm a huge Ray-Bans fan and love the design and sturdiness, but equally as durable yet cheaper and a bit more jazzy are Quay Australia - sadly this pair has sold out on ASOS (available here) but if you want rose gold, marble or a really jazzy cat-eye shape, head to Quay, seriously.
Whether you need to update your bags, add a little summin'summin to your hands, or want to extend your sunglasses range, there's always a fab bargain to be had if you go searching in the right places with equally as great quality! Go on, get your style soaring ;)
What are your favourite accessories? Have you bought bags from Accessorize before? How do you update your clothes each season?
