Over the years of watching YouTubers and reading blogs, I've always enjoyed a good beauty box opening. It started with SWalkerMakeup back in 2010 (is it really that long ago? Oh man...) when she would unbox her monthly Glossybox subscription, and then more bloggers came along with more boxes and I was just in beauty heaven - however despite this I never signed up myself, logic huh?
Fast forward to September 2015 and I've finally got my hands on one, the Look Fantastic 1st Birthday Box* and boy is it a treat. I'm pretty sure you know how beauty boxes work now, you get a selection of minis (sometimes a full size treat if you're good) from various brands that follow a monthly theme so you get to discover something new in your beauty life.
As you can guess, this month's Look Fantastic box is a celebration of a year since releasing their first box and there's so many little treats inside; firstly the Bliss Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, which is a 2-in-1 cleanser and exfoliant perfect for travelling as it removes makeup and cleanses the skin in one sweep, or if you want something a bit deeper then the Codage Scrubbing Cream which contains organic rice particles to help eliminate dead skin cells - it's quite similar to the MyChelle Sugar Refining Cleanser in that the more water you add the more cleansing it becomes, tailoring your scrub intensity to you!
Another skincare treat (and I'm one I'm super excited to try) comes from Caudalie in form of their SOS Thirst Quenching Serum and Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet; the former helps to disperse water and hydration through the skin, balancing out moisture which is key this time of the year whilst the sorbet reactivates the skin's hydration mechanisms and retains water where it's needed. Both are said to work well in making your skin feel stronger and softer, so keep your eyes peeled for my ravings of this...
Now I'm not a big tanning person but if you're looking to extend the life of your summer glow now that it's officially autumn (come on scarves) then the Tanworx Tan Maintainer may be for you - this moisturiser promises to extend the life of your tan whilst keeping that natural glow, and seeing as it's packed with carrot and coconut oil you can bet your skin will nourished and radiant for many weeks.
Finally some haircare, and with a theme of strengthening and repairing running through both brands - Look Fantastic knows, they know that autumn weather is going to try and wreck your hair into a frizz-ball but these products will put a stop to that! For shampoo and conditioner, there's the Professional Sebastian Penetrait range which helps to cleanse the hairs whilst guarding the strands against stress and damage. Perfect for chemically treated or damaged hairs, and if you want that extra oomph then the Phyto Phytokératine Repair Cream has that covered; by helping to restore body, elasticity and that needed life into damaged hair, you can wave by bye to the autumn/winter frizz we all dread.
Personally, I'm impressed with the range of products included in the boxes as well as the variety of brands. There are a few things I know I won't use or get much use of so they can be passed to some willing beauty addict friends and fam, but I'm very interested in the Caudalie products - I've been eyeing up the brand for ages and as a natural skincare lover this really hits the spot for me, keep your eyes peeled for a review...
You can subscribe for monthly boxes here and subscribe as a one-off or an annually long treat to yourself (go on, you know you deserve a treat!)
Are you a fan of beauty boxes? Will you be trying out the Look Fantastic box? Have you made any new beauty discoveries lately?
Lots of Love,
