FOOD : HEALTHY GRANOLA HEART BARS

Hellooo everyone!

I'm one of those people who will want a little cheeky treat after dinner but not want to always dive for the processed goodies to satisfy a craving. When that happens, I know I can rely on my delicious Granola Bar recipe for a sweet but healthy treat, and even better though is that I get to share it with you lovely people to also get on the healthy snack hype!


Ingredients:
1 Cup of Rolled Oats | 2 Dessertspoons of Coconut Oil | 1 Tbsp Agave Nectar | 1 Medium Banana | 1/4 Cup Cranberries |
1/4 Cup Sultanas | 1/4 Cup Pumpkin Seeds | 1 Tbsp Milled Flax Seed / Linseed | 1 Tsp Maca Powder | 2 Tsp Chia Seeds


1. Pre-heat the oven to 200 Celcius. Chop up your banana and microwave for 2 minutes to soften. Melt the Coconut Oil in a saucepan, adding the Agave Nectar once thoroughly melted. Turn off the heat.




2. Add half the banana and oats to the oil, making sure they are thoroughly coated so the granola all sticks together. Add in half the fruit, nuts and supplements to combine, and then add the remaining ingredients.





3. To make the heart shapes, I used a silicon baking mould which you can find in any homeware/cooking store. If you don't have one, then just use a baking tray and cut these bars into slices. Spoon a tablespoon of the mixture into each heart, squishing down to make sure it all joins together and bakes well. Pop into the oven for 20 minutes until brown and crunchy on top!



4. Once baked and partly cooled, pop them out slowly from the mould and serve on a pretty plate or keep hidden away from prying fingers ;)




And there you have it; quick simple granola bars that you can make into cute heart snack-sized shapes when you need a bit of sweet. These lasted about three days in my house, and really satisfied those sugar cravings so I do recommend you give them a wee try when your about to cave into a doughnut or Dairy Milk. The cute heart design would make them perfect for parties or showing off to your friends after dinner, or are just simply great as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or three.
